Scenes from Shoreditch

A Jaunt through East London

I finally made it to East London—not an easy feat when I always make my home base in South West London! But this is where the new and cool are flocking, and it was well worth a walking tour for the grit-meets-glam vibe. The walls are splashed with colorful art and the Shoreditch shops are decked out with vintage chandeliers and cutting-edge design, while around every corner there seems to be a hot new restaurant begging for you to take a seat at the table. Sound a lot like Downtown LA? It is. And that’s a very good thing.

I ate two, obviously.

Don’t worry Angelenos, there’s a healthier option at Albion market and cafe.

This little shop called Monologue was so incredible!

I had my eye on that blanket. Here’s a link to buy!

Labor and Wait-1

At Labour and Wait you’ll find beautifully crafted household goods, from brooms and buckets to books and stationery.

The Modern Society is a super-cool boutique carrying luxury goods as well as offering a beautiful creative space and coffee bar. Shoreditch-16

A “cheeky parlour,” this unique space combines an actual hair salon for men and women with shopping, eating, and drinking. Basically Barber and Parlour is a one-stop shop.

If you visit Shoreditch, be sure to let me know what restaurants you try! I had plans to go to Dishoom for dinner, as it came highly recommended by a trusted friend, but the timing just didn’t work out. It’s apparently incredible Indian cuisine—a favorite of mine that I so rarely get in LA.

Stay tuned for more on my trip to London next week!

  1. Shoreditch looks so colourful and stylish! I was in London for a couple of weeks last year, but two weeks was not nearly enough to explore everything. I feel like I need to live there for a year!

  2. Tell me about it! It’s my dream to live in London for a year at least. I’m going back in a few weeks and canont wait!!
