I’m taking you back to New York City for one last delicious post. Chef Dave Pasternak recently opened Barchetta in Chelsea and it should be on your list to visit this summer if you are in the city. They are known for their crudo flight (in Italian, crudo just means raw), but every single bite we ate that night was ridiculously good.
It was a gorgeous night, so we walked from our hotel, which just adds a little something special to date night. Nobody walks anywhere in Los Angeles. It’s sort of an inside joke.
They were packed that night and though we had reservations, we still had to wait a half hour (boo). Free drinks in hand (all was forgiven!), we quickly scarfed our faces with as much bread and olives (my fave) as we could hold before deciding what to order.
Of course, the Crudo was a must and the flight is the way to go. We each got six different tastings, presented in two flights, and I would fly back to New York right now just to have this again if I could.
A close second though was the Cavatelli, little dumplings with buffalo mozzarella, cherry tomato and basil.
Soft-shelled crab kind of freaks me out, but once I get over the savageness of eating a creature whole, I have to admit, it’s really really good.
We decided to share several smaller plates as opposed to each getting entrees, which is really the way to go here so you can sample as much as possible.
We had to end the night with a taste of something sweet. And by something, I mean chocolate.
And by sweet, I mean this view of the Empire State Building as we walked back taking in the warm night air, breeze in our hair, feeling the pulse of a city like no other place on earth.
