Westglow Resort & Spa, A Luxury Retreat in North Carolina
Last week, my fairy Godmother whisked me away to her mountain house for a couple of days of relaxation while I was home in North Carolina. She loves spas as much as I do, so we spent one entire day at Westglow Resort and Spa, a manor house and spa nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains. For eight hours (!!!) we were scrubbed and rubbed and slathered and wrapped. I have never been more pampered in my life.
Westglow is a spectacular 20 acre estate and was the summer home of artist and writer Elliot Daingerfield. This is the mansion, which has six elegantly appointed bedrooms, in case you are in need of an overnight retreat. It’s also a Relais & Chateaux property, so rest assured you’ll lay your head in luxury. As I entered, financial guru Suze Orman was on her way out. I hope she could afford it! 😉
Inside, each room mixes vintage decor with modern comforts, throwing back to the time period without feeling too stuffy.

After a little tour of the mansion, it was time for our first spa treatment, located just down the way from the manor house. I tend to judge a spa by whether or not it includes water therapy. This more than sufficed…a warm pool, 2 whirlpools, a steam room and a sauna, which I indulged in between my Ultimate Vichy Experience, a Dr. Hauschka facial and an hour Grandfather Stone Massage. By the way, I LOVE all Dr. Hauschka’s products, but during my facial, they wrapped me up in hot towels dipped in the Spruce bath and it was heaven. It smells like Christmas trees and I can’t wait to soak in an entire tub of it on a cold wintery night.
In between treatments, I cozied up with a blanket in the lounge, where you could look out the floor to ceiling windows for a divine spectacle that didn’t cost a thing.
Our Day Glow package included lunch, so we dined on the deck— three gourmet courses by their world class Rowland’s Restaurant.
By the end of the day, we decided to make this a yearly adventure.
But even if I can’t be spoiled at Westglow that often, I’d be happy with a yearly invite to my Godmother’s, waking up each morning with a cup of coffee and this incredible view.
Even if you aren’t a spa person, the mountains of NC makes an affordable, relaxing getaway, far away from the hustle and bustle of the insanity we call life.

Beautiful place. I’ve never been there to even look at it. But believe I will the next time I’m up that way.
