A Luxury Boutique Hotel in London
Anna Scott: “Can I stay a while?”
William Thacker : “You can stay forever.”
– Notting Hill
I know what you’re thinking. Quoting the movie Notting Hill for a post about Notting Hill. Groundbreaking. But forever I wanted to stay when I first stepped inside the new luxury boutique hotel, The Laslett hotel in Notting Hill, combining British heritage with insanely chic modern design. I was lucky enough to score a private tour with the even-chicer hotelier Tracy Lowy, whose meticulous attention to detail can be found around every corner, from the curated British library to the playful art collection—a collaboration with local designers and artists. It’s smart. It’s elegant. Frankly, it’s cool as hell.
The library showcases books all so very British.
In the Lobby, you’ll find art, as well as beautiful items for purchase, such as clothes and jewelry from their latest pop-up shop, a collaboration with the designer Les Glorieuses, all handmade in England.
The Laslett hotel is part of the Living Rooms collection, five hotels that combine the luxury and services of a hotel with the privacy and space of a home. Five Victorian townhouses, once home to high society, now make up the hotel, so you can see what it must have been like to lay your head down in such opulence, on what I’m sure is a much better mattress.
There are rooms with larger baths (and gorgeous tubs!), but I got to see one of the more classic designs.
Cozy in at the Henderson Bar & Coffee Shop for breakfast or a late night cocktail.
The Laslett’s story is ever-evolving, but to me, the one that brings history to life in the form of a pair of black satin shoes is the most intriguing.
As I made my way back out into the quaint streets of Notting Hill, I couldn’t help but wonder if some of their good fortune might have rubbed off on me—and might bring me back to this darling hotel in this perfect neighborhood in my absolute favorite city in the world.
I’m holding on to hope.
Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking. 😉
Hahahaha
Why do I have a sneaking suspicion that we’ll be seeing more of this delightful hotel in the future?!
Hahah! Have all but packed my bags, San!!
I knew it! I’d love to join you! How wonderful if once upon a time we get to be in London together!
