CALIFORNIA! HERE WE COME!
Oh, The O.C. Probably most emblazoned on our minds as the fictitious pop culture phenomenon revolving around the teenage lives of Seth & Summer and that other couple (oh yeah, Ryan & Marissa). But, Newport Beach, the affluent beachside town that set the backdrop for this beloved TV series is indeed a real place and only a short drive from L.A. My friend Amanda lives there now, and invited a group of us down for an insider’s tour. Let’s explore, shall we?
How do you get there, you ask? Park your car on the magnificent Balboa Peninsula, which gives you a free walking tour of all the beautiful homes…
And in one quick Ferry ride , you’ll find yourself on Balboa Island. Just have $2 cash for the roundtrip fare.
First stop must be a frozen, chocolate dipped banana. It’s a Newport classic.
And then, on to the docks to hop on a Duffy. There are many companies that offer boat rentals and the Duffy is the way to go. So much cheaper than a sailboat, and you can be your own Captain.
You can also bring your own snacks and bubbly.
Baby on board!
For two magical hours, we floated around the Harbor. We saw insane homes, giant yachts, adorable seals, a wedding, the Google/Virgin catamaran and we saw the sunset.
All this while precious baby Sage slept soundly.
A very fun day in… CALIFORRRRRNIA!
