Since I got back from London, the year has been an absolute whirlwind. The New Year brought many new changes to my life, the biggest being that my business partner is now consulting two days a week and I have taken over running the company. So, I can finally answer the question truthfully of why I went to London in the first place—to have some time to myself before the luxury of time off wasn’t an option! It’s sort of been non-stop work lately, but in typical fashion, I have managed to combine some pleasure in any chance I get…case in point—cocktails last week atop the newly opened Ace Hotel in downtown LA.
Admittedly, I’m not necessarily the definition of the Ace hotel clientele, but I threw on my best interpretation of rocker chic and tried to fit in.
The rooftop bar is where you want to be, with views of Downtown LA on all sides.
And views of many men with beards and skinny jeans.
I was meeting these two beauties Caitlin + Caitlin. They own an interior design firm in LA and not to get all creepy about it, but I’m obsessed! I pretty much want Caitlin to duplicate her loft and put it in my apartment—it’s that good.
It sort of felt like a hipper Cheers, you know where everyone knows your name and all that. Caitlin + Caitlin knew practically everyone there, so I made new friends and we all sat around with our gin and whisky cocktails and our bags of chips. (For some reason, they don’t have any sort of snacks other than Doritos and Potato Chips. They really need to get some appetizers on the menu!)
We could only manage one cocktail as they do NOT play around. Don’t say you weren’t warned.
The sun was setting and we all had other places to go and people to see.
Though there was no “happy hour,” it was a very happy hour indeed. And a gorgeous last glimpse of blue sky before LA faded into black…
