Kensington Palace Transformed

Today, Kensington Palace reopens after a £12 million transformation.  Two new exhibits include “Victoria Revealed,” which will explore Queen Victoria’s life in her own words and “Diana: A Fashion Icon” that shows a special collection of Princess Diana’s dresses. You can explore the new gardens and tour the King and Queen’s restored State Apartments.

Last August, I visted the palace under construction and embarked on a very clever quest to find the names of seven princesses who once held court there. Outdoors upon entry, visitors “secrets” hung like Christmas ornaments showcasing wise words, hopes and sorrows setting a mood that hooked you instantly. The exhibit was a mix of fashion (by Vivienne Westwood), light & sound installation, haunting voices and storytelling that all came together to create a world The Guardian so perfectly touted was “like falling into a fairytale.”

No surprise, I didn’t want to leave the gardens. The colors were so vibrant and everything smelled glorious. I can’t wait to go back!
