Le Cordon Bleu Presents: Julie & Julia

amy-adamsI have never really spent the time to make a bucket list.  But, if I did, attending culinary school would be at the top. Not so that I can enter the ultra competitive world ala Kitchen Confidential, but so I can impress my friends with impromptu dinner parties and surprise my husband with my new independence from the Food Network.

When I finally get around to attending culinary school, I will look no further than Le Cordon Bleu. With its distinguished reputation and commitment to excellence, it aims to bring out the passion in chefs, the very fundamental quality of the one and only Julia Child. How apropos that on August 5th, Le Cordon Bleu Schools across North America are hosting “Dinner and a Movie,” dedicated to the new film Julie & Julia, starring Meryl Streep and Amy Adams.

meryl-photoStudents at each participating school will create and serve a special movie-inspired menu that will “offer movie goers and food fans across the country an authentic taste of the film.”  With a minimum donation of $20, and a portion donated to the Ronald McDonald House, this is a unique opportunity to get an inside glimpse at the school that has turned out some of the world’s best chefs and get an advanced look at this highly-anticipated film (see summer reading list).

Make Julia proud. Be fearless. Eat butter. “Bon Appetite!”

INFO:  Dinner & a Movie events are offered on a first come first serve basis.  For a list of participating schools near you, click here. To reserve your spot, call the school directly.  A minimum $20 donation is required per person. Julie & Julia opens worldwide August 7th.

  1. Mom and I went and saw this movie while she was here in Florida – what a GREAT movie! So funny, and of course Meryl Streep was wonderful (when is she not?!). All I wanted to do when I got home was go and buy a Julia Child cookbook and do the exact same thing!!
