An Idyllic Country House Hotel in The Cotswolds
I’ve decided to make my second home in the Cotswolds. Never mind that it is more than a ten hour plane ride, an eight hour time difference, and I can only go once a yearโif I’m extremely lucky. The past May, I tagged along (ahem, invited myself) on a trip to London and the English Countryside with my best friend Christi and some of her best travel buddies from Charleston. I bribed them by promising to be the driver on the wrong side of the road and the wrong side of the car! Our home-away-from-home was a darling country house hotel nestled along a winding road, where the wisteria hangs from every cottage door, and every nook and cranny is the cutest thing you have ever seen. It is my next pick for where to stay in The Cotswolds!
Pull off your wellies, and stay a while. This is The Wild Rabbit, my next Stylish Stay.
What I Love:ย The Wild Rabbit isย cozy and intimateโyou’ll feel like you’re staying at a good friend’s home in the countryside, but with a fine dining restaurant attached!
Something to Know: The rooms inside the house have thin walls, so if you will be bothered by potentially loud neighbors, I would recommend staying in one of their self-contained cottages like The Beehive, where our friends stayed.
Suite Dreams: Iย shared the Badger room with my friend inside the house, where we had luxurious handmade linen sheets, a huge tub, and all the Bamford products we could dream ofโbuy them here. My favorite product is the facial oil, that I purchased at their sister property down the street.
Stylish Sips:ย A highlight was the tasting menu and wine pairing in the main dining room. The Sommelier was wonderful and so excited to share his knowledge. He taught us that cognac should be served “warmed through” and our final tasting was Diplomรกtico, one of the finest rums in the world (also my husband’s favorite!). The restaurant manager even played chauffeur and joined us for a nightcap at a pub a few miles away when we needed a ride back to the hotelโthat’s what I call service!
Cool Factor:ย The property is a Daylesford property, owned by Lady Bamford. Though there is no spa on property, theย Bamford Haybarn Spa at Daylesford Farm is less than a mile away, which we indulged in one afternoon. Highly recommend!
Hero Shot:ย Sitting on the wall outside the front of the house like you own the place.
