We closed our office on Friday for the rest of the year, and as luck would have it, I’ve been nursing a sinus infection for the last three days. It has, however, given me plenty of time to finish some last minute online shopping. What did we do before Amazon Prime? This year we are trying something new in lieu of our usual trip to New York City after vising my family in North Carolina. We have rented an Airbnb in Pennsylvania, and for three days we will be hanging out with my husband’s family, cooking, playing games, and spending time with our niece and nephews. I’m a little sad to miss Christmas in the city, but it will be great to have more space and do something we’ve never done. I’ll leave you with a few final thoughts and some things I’m loving lately. I wish you and yours a very happy holiday!
A friend just gave me this book and I think it’s one of the best hostess gifts I have ever received! It really showed a lot of class and effort to bring something other than a bottle of wine (though, she brought wine too! Major points!).
We just finished binging “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” on Amazon Prime, and LOVED it! It was the first thing in a long time my husband and I both were equally excited to watch. Have you seen it?
My friend was wearing a navy blue Faux Fur coat yesterday at lunch, and I’ve become obsessed with finding one. This one is almost identical and is 40% off!
We’ve decided we are going to attempt the Whole30 Diet in January. Eek! I already know that I will get flu like symptoms from eliminating sugar, but we are most interested in trying to cut back on the amount of wheat we eat (this diet means no dairy, no sugar, no wheat, no alcohol, basically NO LIVING, ha). Who wants to try it with us?!
I’ve been cooking a lot from the Love and Lemons blog because I love that she has so many amazing vegetarian recipes. We aren’t vegetarian, but we like to go meatless 1-2 days a week. This was a fantastic mushroom pasta recipe that uses cashew cream in lieu of real cream, so it still feels indulgent without the tummy ache.
A couple of weeks ago, we spent the day in Malibu and checked out two hotels just for fun. I always want to do a weekend at the beach, but never know where to stay. The Malibu Beach Inn (on the beach) and The Surfrider (across from the beach) were both gorgeous and totally TYL approved.
We went to see “Love Actually” last week presented by the Rooftop Cinema Club. I cannot recommend this experience more if you’re in L.A. They provided lounge chairs with headphones and blankets, no waiting in lines, AND they had a pop up restaurant and bar. Check out the coming attractions here.
Today we’re going to Universal Studios to see The Wizarding World of Harry Potter! I’m like a little kid—so excited! Which is funny, because I haven’t even seen all the movies. I just want a wand ;).
