A Cool Hotel in Paris: Hotel Bachaumont

Two years ago, The Mister and I had an unforgettable dinner at Hotel Bachaumont on our last night in Paris. It was one of those rare nights that you could never re-create, but we decided if we ever returned to this gorgeous city, we had to stay at that hotel.

Already in the U.K. for my birthday in August, it was impossible to ignore the fact that you can hop a quick and inexpensive train ride to Paris from London. And that’s how we found ourselves back in this stylish hotel, where one of my best friends Christi was waiting at a cafe table with a book in one hand and a glass of rosè in the other, ready to show us the neighborhood. Known as Montorgueil, the streets are lined with wine bars, cafes, patisseries and flower shops. Leave the tourist attractions behind—this is where you go to feel like a true Parisian.

Bienvenue à Hotel Bachaumont, my next Stylish Stay.

What I Love: Originally the Grand Hôtel de Bachaumont, the place to see and be seen in Paris in the Twenties, fashion retailer Samy Marciano after it had been deserted and turned into a medical clinic. The Art Deco interiors take you back in time to a bygone era of glitz and glamour.

Something to Know: The rooms, like many hotels in Paris, are small. It is also worth noting that we could slightly feel the subway despite being five floors up. My friend Christi did not have that problem in her room, so it’s worth asking for a quiet room.

Suite Dreams: Though our room was on the small side for two people with large suitcases, I loved the decor, the balconies, and the free Evian placed bedside every night.

Stylish Sips: The Experimental Group (known for their hip bars in New York and London) runs Night Flight, the resident bar. It has a super-cool loungy vibe with craft cocktails—the perfect place to cozy in on a rainy night.

Cool FactorThe location of this hotel doesn’t get much cooler, with the best wine bars, cafes, and restaurants that run along the street behind it.

Hero Shot: I’m quite fond of the exterior—especially if you manage to capture a dog enjoying happy hour, too!

You look so beautiful in every picture ever! And Paris looks just as beautiful. If I ever get to walk again, I’m going back to Paris asap.
