Where to Stay in Bath: The Gainsborough Bath Spa

Take a look inside The Gainsborough, a five-star hotel and spa located in the city centre that is my top pick for where to stay in Bath.

Where to Stay in Bath: A Five Star Hotel & Spa

I could not be more excited to start sharing some of my photos from our recent trip to London, The Cotswolds and Paris. This was definitely in my top two favorite trips  we’ve ever taken, and mostly because of going to the English Countryside. It was all I ever dreamed of and more, and my husband not-so-jokingly said that he felt like this was a scouting trip for us to plan many more trips in this part of the world. More on that to come, because today I’m giving you an inside look at The Gainsborough Bath Spa, where it all began. It is my top recommendation for where to stay in Bath.

Part of The Leading Hotels of the World, this exceptional five-star property is conveniently located in the centre of Bath, and has been given the exclusive privilege of access to the natural thermal waters of the World Heritage site. Let your worries melt away as I whisk you away to this “magnificent Georgian playground, where modern comforts bathe you in a rich history, where kings collided with merchants to experience the healing powers of the waters.

If you’re in search of a Cotswold hotel and spa, look no further than The Gainsborough Bath Spa, my next Stylish Stay.

What I Love: Everything. The attention to detail here is unparalleled. From the moment we stepped inside, we were quite literally bathed in luxury. The design, by New York-based Champalimaud Design, while gorgeously plush and modern, still exudes a calming effect with its gray and muted blue tones. The location couldn’t be more convenient for spending a day in Bath—everywhere you want to go is walkable from the hotel.

Something to Know: I rarely say this, but our hotel stay was perfect. The staff was probably the most well informed of any hotel I’ve been to lately, and could not have been nicer. They even extended our check out until 1 p.m. so we could shower after our spa visit.

Suite Dreams: Our huge room left no detail unturned. From the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in, to the face mist, to the pillow menu, to the towel warmer, to the Aspreys of London bath products—this is luxury at its finest.

Spa Waters: Aside from the luxury factor, you come to this hotel for the spa. Upon entry, you sit down at a spa “bar” and create your own aromatherapy sachet that will help you feel relaxed or energized—you decide. At the center of the two-story atrium is one large Roman Bath that integrates the treasured mineral waters from the city. I loved that there was also a room with a hot tub, a warm tub and even an ice grotto.  Don’t miss the drinking chocolate. While we indulged in a massage that gave us unlimited access to Spa Village, they also offer complimentary bathing hours to hotel guests in the early morning and at night.

Stylish Sips:  Though we did not eat or drink at the hotel, there is a beautiful whiskey bar tucked away, and from what I hear, the restaurant is amazing.

Wow looks amazing, and your photos make it probably look even more amazing! Can’t wait to hear more deets soon.

  2. LOVELY!!! I feel more relaxed just reading about this place. My maternal grandfather’s heritage was full Brit, with an ancestral home formerly in Devon (Bideford). Can’t believe I’ve only been to London and Essex, and definitely need to explore the whole of the UK! Inspiring blog Molly :)))
