Four Every Season

July 16, 2009

four-seasons-westlake-village2I’ll admit it. I hate the word “staycation.” I don’t want to stay home on my “vacation” and if I have to stay, I certainly don’t want to spend money to do it (I’d rather wallow in bad TV with a grilled cheese sandwich–ok, a Gruyere cheese sandwich). If you haven’t noticed, there are some amazing deals going on this summer and not just for average accommodations. Many of the world’s leading resorts are offering packages that are not only affordable, but are worth the little bit extra to truly get away where someone else makes your bed (and your grilled cheese).

Take for instance, this past weekend—While attending my second wedding-of-the-year, I had the pleasure of making my home base at the Four Seasons in Westlake Village, CA. Located just 35 miles north of downtown Los Angeles in the rolling hills and arroyos of Conejo Valley, this particular destination is a bit off the beaten path. The best part? I didn’t have to fly, rent a car or spend all day getting there. What I paid for my room was the cost of my trip.  And what a room it was. Complete with views of their indoor pool and tranquil waterfall, it was every bit as luscious as I have come to expect from a hotel of this caliber. The marble bath with soaking tub was perfection, but it was the L’Occitane bath goodies that really put me over the edge.

Unfortunately time did not allow for a visit to the California Health & Longevity Institute (located inside the hotel) or the Asian inspired spa, but I did manage to spend a few hours basking in the sun eating frozen grapes at the serenity pool before checking out.  Are you there God? It’s me, Molly. I really hope there is a Four Seasons in Heaven.

Right now, there is an amazing offer called Double the Fun, where the second night is complimentary and your guest “plays for free”—think a swankier version of  buy one get one free.  Other Four Seasons are offering the Stay Longer package which includes a third night free. If you’ve never stayed at a Four Seasons, your time has come.  Their extraordinary resorts are located all over the world, but take advantage of one a little closer to home. It will most certainly save you time and money.

And that’s always in season.

TIP: Follow @Four_Seasons on Twitter for the most of the moment deals across the world. When you call to book your reservation, ask for the best possible deal. Because I was in a wedding block, I got my rate for $150/night.  It doesn’t get much better than that!

Absolutely loved this hotel too! It’s a great mini getaway from the congested LA area. This hotel really makes you feel you are on vacation (even though you are only 45 minutes outside of LA).

Peter and I were just chatting about where we could go that is close but far enough away for a quick, few-day escape. This sounds perfect!

(btw: I went to twitter to follow – there’s an underscore in there! @Four_Seasons – though the girl at @fourseasons looks pretty cool. grin.)
