Easy Like Sunday Morning Edition

As far as hotels in Culver City go, there is no better option than the historic, Culver Hotel.

My husband and I recently joked that we know we’re getting older when dinner conversation with friends starts to turn to solving ailments! But in all seriousness, I wanted to give an update on my migraines because I have learned a few key things that I hope will help anyone living with chronic migraines like I do. I was referred to a holistic healer in Santa Monica who does Micro Current Neurofeedback combined with acupuncture and herbs, and it’s significantly changed my life. Most migraine sufferers have triggers, and the key is figuring out what those triggers are. The philosophy behind Micro-Current Neurofeedback is that migraines are bad habits, and for people who suffer from frequent migraines, the smallest trigger can set one off. This therapy essentially corrects your brain waves and helps your body stop operating from a fight-or-flight mode all the time. The more triggers I avoid, the faster this therapy will work, so I have tried hard to focus my last few months on decreasing stress.  If anyone has questions about this treatment, feel free to message me in the comments and we can have an in-depth conversation.

In the meantime, here are some things that have brought me less stress and more joy this summer.

My biggest stress-relief game-changer has been changing my morning routine. Rather than reaching for my phone after waking up, I read in bed with a cup of coffee and do my yoga app. Do you have a morning routine?

OMG this book was so incredible!

The Mr. Rogers documentary brought our entire theatre to tears. Have you seen it? You must!

Have you been to Bavel in downtown L.A. yet? It’s my favorite new restaurant this year! Speaking of restaurants, R.I.P. Jonathan Gold.

The best food event L.A. Loves Alex’s Lemonade is coming up September 8th at UCLA’s Royce Hall. It brings some of the best chefs and mixologists from around the country, and the proceeds go to support the fight against childhood cancer. I promise it will be one of the best ways you can spend a Saturday.

You need this Wayfair rug on sale! I bought it for our guest room, and it’s such a steal for a natural-fiber rug—I learned the hard way never to buy cheap synthetic rugs no matter the price.

This book made me wish I went to Oxford, so I decided to sign up for their online writing course. I took one a few years ago at UCLA, and it was the most challenging, yet rewarding thing I’ve done.

A Cheese Tour Through Normandy?! Yes, please!

The best thing you can add to your closet right now is this Vince Tank Dress (in Iron). I’ve owned it less than a week and have already worn it twice!

I got to meet the legendary Annie Leibovitz earlier this year for an ad campaign she shot for my client Golden Door. Here’s the result!
