Los Angeles is so huge, that whenever friends visit, I have to make recommendations based on neighborhood, and Los Feliz is one you should know about! It borders Griffith Park, Silver Lake, and East Hollywood, so it is very convenient to where I live in Hancock Park. Home to many movie stars in the 20s and 30s, it is known for some of the coolest Art Deco architecture in town, like the Sowden House, a mansion designed in 1926 by Frank Lloyd Wright, and—I recently learned (thanks, Sandra!)— the suspected place where the Black Dahlia was murdered. I got to attend my then client’s wedding there a few years ago, and I wish I had known how historic the location was!
But aside from all the history and glamour, Los Feliz is home to some of our favorite restaurants and bars, and will give you a more local experience than what you will find in most guides (or on Instagram!). From some of the best tacos ever, to our favorite low-key bar where we always spot a celebrity…
